Frequently Asked Q’s

So... how does this work?

Each route is a self-guided road trip itinerary package that leads you to a curated mix of Muskoka’s must-see and off-the-beaten-path stops and shares tons of full of fun intel and stories along the way.

There’s tons to explore here, so we’ve compiled different routes for every region of Muskoka! Once you pick your route, you’ll be sent two emails within about a minute. The first is a receipt and the second is your route access information. You’ll use the link and code provided to unlock the trip content, which will be available as both mobile-optimised digital content AND a downloadable .PDF - you can choose the format that works best for you. No waiting around - just hit the road!

Aside from any sudden acts of nature (we did have a road wash out overnight once!), we promise that our trips are accurate for the two weeks beyond the date of purchase. Outside of that, you’re still likely good-to-go, but we can’t guarantee it due to all sorts of things that are out of our control.

What Will I Experience On Route?

We are all about helping you connect to the culture of the Muskoka region, so you’re going to see some really cool places while we spill the tea about some pretty entertaining history along the route.

Each route has ten main stops that are labeled in your package according to what you can do at each spot:

  • Explore: Places that are publicly accessible where you can park your vehicle and wander around.

  • Photo Op: Places that are awesome photo opportunities, but are either less interactive or are privately owned, so just enjoy from near your car.

  • On Route: These are bonus places we want to share with you while you continue driving to the next stop in your route. You can choose to add them in if you’re looking for more adventure beyond the ten main stops in your route.

We also give you the driving directions and parking tips that will make travel easy-peasy.

What Will I Need?

We recommend you have the following items while you travel:

  • Access to your AWAY WE GO package

  • A vehicle with a full tank of gas

  • Reliable access to GPS software (Google Maps links will be embedded in the trip)

  • Your wallet, with debit/credit cards or some cash just in case

  • A charged phone with a data plan

  • A camera

  • Appropriate attire for exploring places like a beach or forest trail, given the local conditions and forecasted weather

  • Covid-safe items, including masks & sanitizer

How much time does the trip take?

The best part of each adventures is that you get to spread the fun over whatever period of time is the best fit for your crew. If you are doing it in a day, we expect you’ll be on route for at least four hours. That said, if you allow yourself to take your time to really explore the stops, linger to capture awesome photos, enjoy the awesome places to eat and shop along route…you could easily stretch most trips over a weekend. Basically, we pack a lot into each trip, can't control traffic patterns, and don't necessarily explore at the same pace as you, so your experience may differ a bit.

Who can join me?

We design our itineraries as small group experiences, assuming the occupants of a single vehicle are enjoying the route. We are trusting you to use good judgement and to respect any Public Health guidelines in determining the size and adventure-readiness of your crew.

Can I bring my kids & dog?

All of the routes are definitely kid-friendly, though you know your kiddo best. We’ll leave it to your judgement as to whether they are ready and able to enjoy a day of surprise exploration around Muskoka.

We have tried our best to make dog-friendly routes, so if you choose to bring your dog, we trust you to respect the rules at each location, which almost always means using a leash, but may also mean opting not to enter certain stops with your dog (ie. Dogs can’t go on the sand at most beaches and can’t enter stores, if you decide to shop).

how can i travel safely?

As you travel, it’s your responsibility to adhere to Ontario Public Health Guidelines, as well as the Simcoe-Muskoka Health Unit guidelines. By purchasing a package, you voluntarily participate in the route and assume full and complete responsibility for the experience, so ensure safety and sound judgement are always used to keep you, your crew and everyone else who enjoys the route healthy and safe.
